Selasa 30 Juni 2026
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is reshaping how media companies produce, distribute, and monetize content. While AI offers significant opportunities to improve efficiency and innovation, it also presents major challenges, including declining audience traffic and digital advertising revenue, as well as the use of journalistic content by AI platforms without fair compensation. Against this backdrop, an important question emerges: how prepared are Indonesian media companies to adopt AI responsibly and sustainably?
To answer this question, the Indonesian Cyber Media Association (AMSI), in collaboration with Pemantau Regulasi dan Regulator Media (PR2Media) and with support from the International Fund for Public Interest Media (IFPIM), conducted research that was published as the report AI Technology and the Readiness of Media Companies. The research was conducted between [research period] and surveyed 262 AMSI member media companies, complemented by Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) and in-depth interviews to assess AI readiness, identify opportunities and challenges, and understand the support needed for effective AI adoption.
Published in June 2026, this research summary is intended to serve as a reference for media companies, policymakers, technology platforms, researchers, and other stakeholders in developing strategies to strengthen AI readiness, promote responsible AI governance, and build a fair and sustainable media ecosystem that supports the future of quality journalism in Indonesia.(*)
